A New Chapter in São Paulo’s Music Scene

São Paulo is a city where music never sleeps. From electronic beats to instrumental experiments, creativity flows in every corner. Now, it’s also the home of WMN São Paulo, the newest chapter of We Make Noise, dedicated to empowering women and LGBTQIA+ creators in Brazil’s music industry.

Led by Sue —music producer and founder of Purple Produções—the chapter creates a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where underrepresented voices can grow professionally and artistically. With mentoring programs, workshops, and opportunities to showcase talent, WMN São Paulo aims to strengthen visibility, participation, and influence of women and LGBTQIA+ musicians in Brazil.

A Successful Launch: Ableton Live Workshop

The launch of WMN São Paulo proved the demand for this kind of initiative. Registrations for the first event filled up in just a few hours, with a long waiting list of eager participants.

The inaugural workshop was dedicated to Ableton Live, taught by sound artist Gylez at Estudio 7lira, a partner space in the west side of the city. For three days, participants explored music production tools, techniques, and creative processes while building a new network of support and collaboration.

To close the workshop, WMN São Paulo welcomed Kenya20hz, acclaimed DJ and music producer, who shared insights from her career and offered an exclusive preview of tracks from her upcoming album. Her talk sparked conversations about resilience, creativity, and diversity in Brazil’s electronic music scene.

What’s Next for WMN São Paulo?

While many activities will continue at Estudio 7lira, WMN São Paulo is planning to expand into both central and peripheral venues to reach broader and more diverse audiences. The chapter believes in the power of education, knowledge-sharing, and community to transform the social, cultural, and political landscape of Brazil’s music industry.

By fostering collaboration between established professionals and emerging talents, WMN São Paulo is set to become a reference point for diversity and inclusion in music in Brazil.
