The conversation of gender equity in music spans decades, yet women and gender-expansive creatives continue to face systemic pressures working to limit their contributions. According to a 2025 report, women and gender-expansive people make up 6% of producers, 19% of songwriters, and 37% artists. Today, this group remains vastly underrepresented behind the boards, but We Make Noise is on a mission to change that.
The We Make Noise record label kicks off Women’s History Month with fresh releases that showcase the depth of talent cultivated within our global community. With these projects, we invite all to join us in celebrating Women’s History Month and the mission of amplifying women and gender-expansive artists.

Feels So Good by Erin Barra - March 3, 2026

WMN Founder and Executive Director, Erin Barra, leads by example with a new single that reflects on personal evolution and collective purpose.
Building off her existing discography of piano-driven pop with various influences, Feels So Good is marked by a sense of resolution and reflection. The thumping backbeat, emotive chord sequence, and Barra’s unique and powerful voice craft an introspective scene that is highlighted with purposeful sampling of soundscapes. As she reflects on identity and what it means to be an artist, Barra fills the listener with a sense of acceptance born from retrospection.
“For me, this release is the moment I finally gather and fully accept every version of myself I’ve been across these decades,” says Barra. “It feels like coming home and moving forward at the same time.

Exponent EP by Erin Barra - April 10, 2026
Following the release of the highlight single, “Feels So Good,” Erin Barra’s upcoming EP, “Exponent,” will extend her sonic storytelling into the spring. As the release date nears, Barra details her creative approach and the personal context behind the EP in a series of essays published on the WMN platform.
The EP promises to deepen the themes introduced in "Feels So Good," exploring the various dimensions of growth, including personal, artistic, and communal. Rooted in the same piano-driven sensibility that has defined Barra's sound, the EP delves into her evolved sonic perspective while staying anchored in the emotional honesty her listeners have come to expect.
Barra’s work through WMN has always centered on the power of collective voice, and this release is an extension of that mission into her art. The We Make Noise Label is excited to facilitate the narrative of this EP and the results of Barra’s leadership.
Community as a Creative Technique
The artists behind WMN Vol. 1 emerged through their participation in various collaboration-oriented programs offered by We Make Noise. Among others, WMN Sessions, our songwriting and production camp series, offers immersive and collaborative experiences to our community. These 2-3 day camps unite about 30 women and gender-expansive artists to write and produce in professional and inclusive environments all over the world. Each session is shaped by a new group of artists in collaboration with a featured artist who guides the space.
The results from these programs have cemented the positive impact of building creative approaches that include and uplift. “Let Me Be Water” by Madame Gandhi was born directly from a WMN Session, going on to earn critical recognition from KCRW and GLAAD and reach audiences around the world. That success made one thing clear: when women and gender-expansive creators are resourced and centered, the results are exceptional.
As a nonprofit organization, WMN is committed to the mission of advancing global gender equity through the expansion of its record label. By releasing and amplifying the talents of women and gender-expansive creatives, we continue towards our mission as we celebrate Women’s History Month 2026.
